His Angel..!!

He glanced at the phone maybe the 50th time…..but there was no call….nor a message. He was totally exhausted…as he was working for last 15 hours. His colleague asked him to leave…but he didn’t want to go.
He went to the cafeteria to get a cup of coffee. He made his coffee and sat on the corner table. The radio in the cafeteria played “Show me the meaning of being in lonely…is this the feeling…” it was her favorite song. A tear drop rolled over his cheeks. He couldn’t bear it any more….he left the place.
He switched off his PC and glanced at his mobile…there was no call or a message. He started walking…..he didn’t know where to go. As he walked by Marine drive…he could see couples walking hand in hand……some relishing the spicy tangy pani-puri….some having the famous bun maska pav and cutting chai…a group of college guys and girls….playing loud music….small children pestering their parents to take balloons…grandpa’s and grandma’s enjoying the hot corn.
The cool breeze made him nostalgic….he was lost in some other world…..just then the phone rang.
The screen was blinking “Home calling”…but he disconnected the call. He didn’t want to talk to anyone…he just wanted to be alone. Again the phone rang…but this time he picked up the call. It was his mom, she asked him to come home as it was already 11:00 Pm. He said he will be there in sometime and cut the call.
He didn’t want to go home….he didn’t want to go to a place where she was not there…but he had to…as his  mom was waiting for him.
He rang the door bell….but she was not there to open the door…she was not there to take his bag…and check what he has bought.
He washed his face and threw the wet towel on the bed…but she was not there to give that irritated look. His mom asked him for dinner…but he refused. He sat there on the bed….there were no complaints…no gossip…no giggles….no hugs… there was just emptiness…loneliness…
He again glanced at his phone…there were no calls. He opened the images folder and gazed at her picture. After his wife passed away…his life revolved around her…she was his darling angel…she was his everything…she was his daughter…Radhika.
He remembered that day…1st August 2010…it was her 18th birthday. He had planned a nice surprise for her…little did he know that fate had some big surprises for him. It was the first Sunday of August and everyone was busy celebrating “Friendship Day”.  She had gone to visit her friends…and had promised to return back for dinner. He had made her favourite Chicken Hyderabadi…and prawns pulav.
She was enjoying the party with her friends…who were having vodka and tequila shots. They asked her to join them for a drink, she refused. Her dad was her role model…he never drank or smoked. He was against such kind of fun.
The party got over at 10:00pm. All her friends were drunk…and she didn’t know to drive. She was afraid to go with them…but there were no cabs available at that time. She called her dad….and explained the situation. He was angry on her…for being late. He scolded her for going out with friends who drink. He cut the phone in anger. She kept on calling…but he didn’t pick up the call.
After about half an hour…he called her up…but her phone was switched off. He got worried…he kept on trying her number….but she was not reachable. Just then the landline phone rang…it was from Lilavati hospital. The person on the line said an accident took place near Bandra Worli sea link…there were 6 people in the car….and one of them was his daughter…Radhika.
His heart sank….he immediately left for the hospital…he wanted to hold her…and tell her that she will be alright……he wanted to talk to her….he wanted to hear her voice….but by the time he reached there….his little angel….flew to a far off place….!!!!!
PS: Drink…have fun…enjoy….but know your limits….and please do not Drink and Drive. Never react to a situation in anger. Anger destroys everything….!!!!
Awaiting your suggestions…!!!
